IMF expects faster growth
Article Abstract:
The International Monetary Fund (IMF), stated that Thailand's improved external factors and government regulation should promote growth during the second half of this year, on into 2002. Low interest rates have helped, said the IMF, in bringing down foreign debt by boosting domestic refinancing. Of the $14.3 billion borrowed by Thailand through an IMF rescue package last year, $750 million has already been paid, and another $6.5 billion is expected next year.
