The '70s are back
Article Abstract:
Bowling alleys have become fashionable again in Bangkok, Thailand. Japanese-Thai-US joint venture Brunswick Siam has built three bowling centres in Bangkok at a cost of over $3.5 million each. The country is undergoing economic problems, but patrons of the 42-lane Brunswick RCA Bowl have to queue for over a hour on a Monday evening to get a lane. Patrons also enjoy the disco atmosphere which Brunswick introduces on some nights. Brunswick Siam believes that the economic crisis will create more custom because the pastime is relatively inexpensive.

The gavel falls on Thai art at auction
Article Abstract:
The starting price of the auction of over 1,500 Thai works was only 400,000 baht, a far cry from the offering of almost three mil baht made in 1997, before today's struggling Thai economy. The auction includes the famous 1980 painting of lotuses by the late Thai artist Tawee Nanda Kwang. In the early 1990s, the prime of Thailand's economic boom, finance firms embarked on an immense buying spree.
