The market was valued at 2,039 million German marks in 1995 and experienced a 15% growth in volume and a 2% decline in real value between 1991 and 1995 due to massive discounting. Extruded snacks also exhibited the highest growth during this period at 31%. Nuts had a 31% share of the market in 1995 while environmental issues have become significant factors in packaging.
