The Dutch market for canned foods
Article Abstract:
The canned foods market in the Netherlands was examined for sales and future trends. For the years 1995-1998, the market contracted by 17.5% which represented a significant decrease. This trend can be attributed to the preference of consumers for fresh produce which was coupled with an increase in the production capacity of canned goods producers which exceeded the market's ability to absorb the production. The canned food market is predicted to suffer from a further decline by 2001, falling by another 3% in terms from its 1998 value
