The German market for soft drinks
Article Abstract:
The article discusses the German soft drinks market which, for purposes of this report , has been divided into four principal categories, namely: 1-colas; 2-lemonade/fruit drinks; 3-sport/energy drinks; and 4-other soft drinks. The report depicted that the surge of energy drinks, also called functional drinks, was brought about by people's need for drinks that fulfill functions other than quenching thirsts. Health consciousness has also been a dominant factor in the leering away from alcoholic beverages, shown by consumers, especially the young. In the midst of a health-consciousness era, colas still dominate the softdrink industry, with Coca-Cola being No.1.

The French market for soft drinks
Article Abstract:
The French soft drink market reached 1.8 billion liters in 1995, representing a 12% increase since 1991. Colas ruled the industry, accounting for 40% of volume sales in 1995. The dominance of giants Coca-Cola and PepsiCo of the colas sector proved to be beneficial because these two companies invested significantly in advertising campaigns for their brands. The introduction of new developments such as ice tea drinks buoyed market sales. The increasing popularity of healthier, additive-free products is giving new direction to the market. The outlook for the market is discussed.

Soft drinks in Scandinavia
Article Abstract:
Sweden, Norway and denmark generally posted large increases in volume sales in the soft drinks sector in 1992 due to the hot and dry weather, with Sweden posting the largest sales with 969 liters. Carbonates had the biggest turnover among all the soft drinks, with Coca-Cola registering the biggest retail sales among all soft drinks brands. The growing awareness on health food and drinks is expected to boost the sales of soft drinks, particularly fruit juice drinks. This trend is also predicted to be accompanied with an increase in prices.
