Merle Hinrichs is a leader in electronic commerce in Asia with his Asian Sources Media Group, and the company aimes to expand outside Asia with its GlobalSources.com. Hinrichs set up Asian Sources Working with a small amount of capital and moved into electronic transactions from the late 1980s. Buyers and sellers are introduced through Asian Sources, and transactions are carried out privately. Hinrichs does not wish to seek a Nasdaq listing since he prefers private ownership. He has a conservative approach to business that could become a disadvantage, and he may find that specialist companies are more agile.

The mobile Internet is very different to fixed-line Internet services, and there seems to be a good chance that money can be made from mobile services. Differences include the fact that mobile phone users seem willing to pay a premium to do things on the move.
