The Spanish market for fast food: company profiles: Alda Foods SA (Pokin's)
Article Abstract:
Alda Foods SA, which operates the Pokin's chain of burger style fast food restaurants, has secured a value share of 0.6% of the total burgers sector in 1997 in Spain. Pokin's, which targets more upscale customers than the market served by McDonald's and Burger King, contributed a very small amount of change in the whole fast food market with it concentrating in the Spanish market. Alda has reported a decline in profits by 52% in 1996 to Ptas240million compared to 1995. The decline was attributed to its move to the closure of two of its outlets in 1996 and the increasing competition from major sectoral players.
