The aesthetic dimension of kitchen stoves
Article Abstract:
Mora Moravia (MM) (Marianske Udoli, Czech Republic), kitchen equipment manufacturer, is innovating its cooking equipment with emphasis on aesthetics. The firm is preparing a new line of products of the second generation under the name Mora Euroline, which should be launched in 2001. The line Mora Euroline of first generation was launched in September 1998. MM has invested nearly 120 mil Kc in the production of the products Euroline to solve problems with enamelling. About 71 mil Kc of the sum was invested in a new enamelling plant, which will decrease costs on power by 7.5 mil Kc per year and 4.5 mil Kc per year. MM has to invest nearly 500 mil Kc in the overall modernisation of old plants by 2002. The investment should be supported by the firm's strategical partner. The investment fund Czech & Slovak Investment Corporation (CZIC) (Czech Republic), which is controlled by the international investment bank Flemings in London, UK, became the firm's strategical partner in September 1998, when it acquired a 50% stake in MM. The remaining 50% stake is held by MM's management.

The revival of bus lines
Article Abstract:
Karosa (Vysoke Myto, Czech Republic), bus manufacturer, plans to invest 2-3 bil Kc from 1999. The investment should be used for the modernisation of the firm's current bus types and the development of new bus types. Most of the sum will be invested in the construction of a new paint shop. Renault (France), holder of a 78% majority stake in Karosa, counts on the utilisation of investment invitations from the Czech government for foreign investors during the construction. Karosa is expected to extend its bus production shortly compared to about 1,000 pieces per year in 1998, due to the designed capacity of the paint shop. Karosa plans to sell 1,200 buses in 1998. Karosa will be included in a newly set up holding company of Renault and Iveco (Italy) as one of subsidiaries. Karosa will keep its legal subjectivity and will sell its products under the Karosa trade mark on the global market.
