The American Meat Institute and the Dept of Agriculture disagree over the testing method that should be used to detect the presence of the potentially deadly E. coli 0157:H7 bacterium on meat. They also disagree over where meat should be tested. Testing can help prevent distribution of tainted meat.

Hogs' halt: agriculture

Though pig farming is a good source of income for the state of North Carolina, a two-year moratorium was passed by the government to halt building or expansion of current pig farms and impose tougher limits for sewage waste disposal and other environmental concerns.
