The ruling United National Party won four out of seven provinces in Sri Lanka in elections held May 17, 1993. The good will won by the party's assassinated leader, Pres Ranasinghe Premadasa was a major influence. The leftist People's United Front won two provinces.

Poland turns again
Article Abstract:
The victory of the Solidarity Electoral Action, a group of solidarity parties in Poland, is a great surprise and change from the previous semi-communist government. Solidarity's ideologies are for more privatization, Christian values and patriotism.
