The comeback kid: he bounced back from defeat to nab a second world title, but this gritty pugilist is still fighting - to regain his country's unqualified respect
Article Abstract:
Filipino boxer Luisito Espinosa is the reigning World Boxing Council Featherweight Champion, and has recently been successful in defending his title for a third time. His defensive style, often described as classical boxing, is not appreciated by some who want more drama, war and heart in the boxing ring. He won his first professional fight at the age of 17 and won his first attempt at the World Boxing Association bantamweight title in 1989. He has won praise outside the Philippines for his fighting and has been named Athlete of the Year by the sports commentators' organization of the Philippines.
