The damage done
Article Abstract:
The impeachment process against President Bill Clinton has involved a partisan vote that that increased his standing in public opinion polls and gained support from Democrats. A quick trial, or a motion of censure are two possible ways to end the process which is causing damage to the US political atmosphere. Questions have been raised about the role of the independent counsel, and Congress should consider abolishing it. The process has weakened the presidency and set dangerous precedents. Clinton could have avoided these problems by resigning.

Clinton's stock falls
Article Abstract:
President Bill Clinton has been criticised for being evasive during investigations which are part of an impeachment process. The investigation has widened to tackle issues other than his relationship with Monica Lewinsky, in order to establish whether he obstructed justice and lied over other issues. A debate will be carried out in the House of Representatives if there is a decision to continue with the process. There is a 90% level of opposition to impeachment among Americans.
