The crumbling of Pakistan
Article Abstract:
Pakistan faces a number of serious problems such as a banking system afflicted by bad debts, a halt in investment and industry, and loss-making utilities. Pakistan has cut electricity prices despite the losses, and still hopes for aid from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The IMF may withhold funds needed to service Pakistan's external debt. Meanwhile, the government is seeking to introduce Islamic law as Pakistan's supreme law. On a positive note, corruption has been reduced since 1997.
