Togetherness
Article Abstract:
Steve Ballmer is to become chief executive of Microsoft, and Bill Gates is to retain the role of chairman, as well as taking on a new role as chief software architect. The change has had little impact on Microsoft's stock price, and formalizes the de facto situation. A change in strategy is unlikely. The five years from 2000 are a crucial period for the company, as it seeks to preserve its predominant position in the era of the internet. There is still uncertainty relating to antitrust action against the company.
