The last pinball machine
Article Abstract:
WMS Industries has decided to end its production of pinball machines to focus on slot machines. The pinball machine industry reached a peak of sales in 1992, with 100,000, falling to a little more than 10,000 in 1999. Stern Pinball, from Illinois, is the only remaining pinball maker world wide. WMS sought to develop a pinball hybrid with computer graphics as a way of reinventing pinball. Pinball has suffered previous setbacks and has recovered, but the arcade business itself os in decline, while home videogame consoles ae becoming more sophisticated.
