The Democrats' left wing, as represented by union interests and the supporters of Jesse Jackson and Jerry Brown, has been largely excluded from the Bill Clinton celebration at the 1992 convention. Left-leaning voters' support for Clinton is soft, and that could deny him victory in states such as California.
