Film-maker Richard Leacock's search to achieve 'the feeling of being there' changed the way in which documentaries were made. Along with D.A. Pennebaker, Leacock pioneered intimate documentaries using increasingly light cameras, and produced the first 'fly-on-the-wall' documentaries.

Throw-away high-tech: Japan's camera makers
Article Abstract:
Japanese companies managed to export 3.3 million of their top model cameras in 1991, which is down from the 1981 peak of 6.4 million. Consumers are shying away from high-tech models in favor of simpler ones. Minolta was sued by Honeywell for infringing upon two patents.
