Fathoming the president
Article Abstract:
Indonesian president, Abdurrahman Wahid, has sworn in a new security minister to replace General Wiranto, who has been suspended while investigations are being carried out into East Timor killings in Sep 1999. Wiranto also gave up his military posts to join the cabinet. Wahid is thought to be both contradictory and shrewd. Wahid still faces difficult challenges such as unrest in Aceh, where there is pressure for a referendum and for independence.

Camden and Philadelphia are next to one another, but are different in their approach to urban renewal. Philadelphia improved its poor neighborhoods by cutting costs and getting private funding, while Camden has done nothing for its ghettos, and its public housing has been taken over by the state.
