The race is on
Article Abstract:
The main US presidential candidates are Al Gore for the Democrats and Geroge W. Bush for the Republicans. The primary season will have ended by Mar 2000, which is early than usual in the electoral cycle, since New York and California have brought forward their primaries. The economy has performed well since 1992 when the Democrats won the White House. The boom will have lasted longer than any other in US history if it continues in 2000. Bush faces challenges from the right, and Gore holds the political center, so Bush will have to tackle the right of the party if he is to compete in the center.

All sewn up?
Article Abstract:
The two candidate for the US presidential election appear to have been nominated, and they are George W. Bush, Republican, and Al Gore, Democrat. Both candidates have strong financial resources and political backing. There is still the possibility of a different candidate emerging for each party. Both candidates are in the politcal center, though Al Gore is more of an interventionist and is less enthusiastic about free trade. Their likely performance in terms of social and economic policy are key issues by which voters will judge them.
