The real value of the year out
Article Abstract:
A report by Huddersfield University, UK, backed by the Department of Industry, indicates that the traditional year of work-based training for architecture students is worthwhile, but that changes are needed. Paramount is the the need to update the log sheets which students fill in, which are signed at the place of work. It also needs to be decided whether the year is just taken as professional training or should count for credits. The report also highlights the tendency for architects to specialise.
