The real virtual business
Article Abstract:
Internet stockbroking has become increasingly popular in the US, and Charles Schwab is one broker to have benefited, with a rising stock price. Over 5 million online brokerage accounts have been set up since 1994, when none existed. There is strong competition among Internet brokers, which results in pressure on prices. Investors appear to be moving to online brokers rather than keeping money in banks, so full-service firms do not appear to be unduly affected by the rise of internet broking.
