The realisation of a key investment project starts at the refinery in Kralupy
Article Abstract:
Ceska rafinerska (CRA) (Czech Republic), refinery, started the installation of a fluid catalytic cracking unit at its refinery in Kralupy, the Czech Republic, in June 1999. The investment costs on the project should be 8 bil Kc. The installation of the unit should be completed in the third quarter of 2001. The unit will utilise technology from Universal Oil Products (UOP) (US). The supplier of the technology will be the international engineering firm Fluor Daniel. The unit's capacity will be 3,800 t of oil per day and will allow to increase the capacity of petrol and Diesel oil production to 1.3 mil t per year shortly compared to the current 300,000 t per year. The firm should export 20% of its production after the completion of the unit compared to the current 15%. A part of the unit's installation should be financed from CRA's sources and a part from credits. The company counts on a syndicated credit of 200 mil USD with a five-year redemption period. The loan should be drawn at the end of 1999.

CeramTec sets up new production centres in the Czech Republic
Article Abstract:
CeramTec CZ (Sumperk, Czech Republic), silicon carbide component manufacturer, commissioned a new production hall on 06 Apr 2001. The new hall is intended for the finishing of sealing and regulation plates. The production of the plates from aluminium oxide material is ensured by plants in Lauf, Germany, and Caravaggio, Italy. The investment costs on the hall's construction were about EUR 2.5 mil, CEK 90 mil. The construction took five months. The new capacities will enable the firm to extend its raw component production by 14% during the next 12 months. The company has a total of 300 employees in Sumperk currently. About 85 jobs of the number were set up in 2000. CeramTec expects a turnover of EUR 19 mil, CEK 685 mil, in 2001. The firm expects its turnover to increase by about 30% to more than EUR 26 mil, nearly CEK 950 mil, by 2003-2004.

ERP project at Hame Babice

Hame (Babice, Czech Republic), canning company, is implementing a complete ERP information system in 2000. The project is one of the largest ERP projects in the Czech Republic in 2000. The ERP system will be implemented at Hame's all six plants in the Czech Republic and its representative office in Slovakia. Hame generates a turnover of more than 3 bil Kc per year. It has 1,700 employees and is one of the largest food companies in the Czech Republic.
