The search for information - a patient perspective on multiple opinions
Article Abstract:
An optimal treatment strategy is formulated for the optimal search for information using a patient perspective. The basic model is characterized by a two-action space with a linear utility function. Two different systems of information are used. The first involves physicians providing yes or no treatment type of recommendation and the second involves physicians providing probabilistic information regarding the likelihood of the treatment's success.
