The share in the modernisation of the Swedish firm SSAB Oxeloesund
Article Abstract:
Vitkovice (Ostrava, Czech Republic), metallurgy and engineering firm, would like to participate in another stage of the modernisation of SSAB (Oxeloesund, Sweden). The firm participated in the first stage of the modernisation of SSAB through its subsidiary Tezke strojirenstvi (Czech Republic). The first stage of the modernisation of SSAB, which is one of the largest rolling mills in Europe, was completed in August 1998. The worth of the contract was 11 mil DEM. Vitkovice asserted itself with its conception and know-how in the project. Slovacke strojirny (Uhersky Brod, Czech Republic) participatted in the project as a subsupplier. Besides, Hytos (Czech Republic) participated in the project in the field of hydraulic components and Ingeletric (Czech Republic) as a supplier of electrical equipment. l Engineering Trade Fair in Brno, the Czech Republic, in 1998.

A new Rigips gypsum cardboard production plant
Article Abstract:
Rigips (Czech Republic), gypsum cardboard manufacturer, will commission a new plant near Melnik, the Czech Republic, in December 1998. The plant's production capacity will be 11 mil sq mt of gypsum cardboard construction, impregnated and fire boards of the Rigips trade mark. The environmental friendly production plant will utilise power gypsum, which is a waste material from the desulphurising of the thermal power station in Melnik. The production plant will be built by the construction firm Vodni stavby (Prague, Czech Republic) at a cost of 274 mil Kc. In the Czech Republic, the plant will be the first production plant of BPB Gypsum (UK), Rigips's parent company.

Americans in Chomutov

Parker Hannifin (PH) (US), hydraulic component manufacturer, commissioned a new plant in Chomutov, the Czech Republic, on 04 Jun 2001. The plant was built on an area of 10 ha. It is equipped with he most modern technology and centralized logistics. The investment costs on the project were over USD 10 mil. The plant has 300 employees. PH has been operating on the Czech market since 1991. The firm started production co-operation in 1994, when it manufactured screw joints in Chomutov.
