The special talents women bring to participative management
Article Abstract:
The emphasis on commitment as a prerequisite to appointment as a corporate executive and the biological child-bearing role of women are at odds. Many corporate leaders note the extensive time commitment required of board members (24-hours a day, seven days a week) when asked why no women function as corporate officers. Some women executives encourage younger women to choose between family and business, while informing these would-be executives that they cannot have both. However, total commitment to business and career is an unrealistic prerequisite, while women are perhaps better than men at juggling more than one life-time interest. Women are also shown to be loyal to employers in a way that is unmatched by men. Women can function well as board members and executive officers while raising a family at the same time.

Why the computer is altering decentralized management
Article Abstract:
Improved computer network integration methods are beginning to effect the basic approaches to management techniques, and as the rate of technological innovations increases, businesses are forced to keep abreast of how those technologies can influence their operations positively. The implementation of computer networks has become an important part of the recovery process for many businesses forced to reorganize to compete in maturing markets, but while decentralization in management has been the trend, the implementation of these networks tends to work against decentralization. Resistance to the introduction of computer technology in management is based in large part on the fear of increased centralization and the negative influences of centralized computer facilities, requiring the systems be implemented carefully.
