The world needs deposit insurance
Article Abstract:
The virtual Bretton Woods Conference should consider creating a World Deposit Insurance Corp (WDIC) to regulate the banks and economies of the world. Membership in the WDIC would be voluntary and it would have its own standards and examiners. It would have a fund and would act as a receiver of any member bank in case of failure. It would have the power to cancel a bank's insurance if a government failed to close an insolvent bank. The biggest advantage to having a WDIC is the existence of a fund that would be available to absorb losses.

Save the whales, support tradable hunting permits
Article Abstract:
The International Whaling Commission is proposing a catch limit as a means to allow commercial whaling, but that option would not give a voice to environmental or tourist groups. Alloting the hunting permits to countries and allowing them to auction the permits would be more conducive to sharing whales as a common resource.
