China Development Bank has agreed to invest a minimum of 2.2 bil euro up to 9.8 bil euro for a 3.1% to 8% stake respectively in UK bank Barclays PLC should Barclays prove successful in its bid for Netherlands bank ABN Amro Holding N.V. An 8% stake would make China Development Bank the largest shareholder. The agreement highlights the role of global capital in such deals.
