This year, next year, sometime, never?
Article Abstract:
Leonid meteor storms are thoughtto occur at 33 year intervals, but they are not always easy to predict. The storms are produced when dust from comets passes through the atmosphere of the earth. University of Western Ontario's James Jones and Peter Brown have sought to improve the accuracy od predictions using a computer simulation. Other work is being carried out at the University of London, England by Iwan Williams and Zidian Wu. The meteor shower of 1998 ocurred earlier than predicted and this could be linked to a particular characteristic of its orbit.

The riot that never was
Article Abstract:
An investigation is being carried out into a race riot in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1921, and the site will be excavated since it is thought that a mass grave can be found there. The riot apparently occurred after a shoeshine man was accused of an attack on a white woman. The riot destroyed the area of Greenwood, an African American business district. Memories of the riot are passed down among African Americans, but not among whites, and memory has been segregated.
