Thomas Ferebee
Article Abstract:
Thomas Ferebee was with 11 other airmen who were in a bomber called the Enola Gay that destroyed Hiroshima, Japan, in Aug 1945. He was chosen as bombardier by Paul Tibbetts, the pilot, and they trained in the Pacific. Ferebee argued that the bomb meant that the war ended sooner. There were also fears that Germany and Japan could have developed the atomic bomb. Ferebee left the air force in 1970, and liked the comradeship. He defended the actions of his comrades and was always prepared to speak on the issue of Hiroshima.
