Thomson MultiMedia says net profit rose in 1st half

Thomson MultiMedia SA posted an improvement in its net profits for the first half of 1999. Thomson posted 200 million French francs (30.5 million euros) in net profits for the period. During the preceding period, the company reported a 258 million franc loss. Thomson announced that it expected to post a major improvement in net profit for the 1999 year. The company believes its net profits will reach 2.5% of its yearly revenues.
