Throughput, flow times, and service level in an unreliable assembly system

An investigation is conducted in to an unreliable assembly network where two independent work centers process different component types before they are merged at an assembly point. The study seeks to understand the behavior of such systems in order to identify maximum throughput.

An infinite horizon inventory model of buyers, with a commitment to purchase a fixed amount of products on a periodical basis, is studied with Markov chains. The study helps to understand the long term relationship between buyers and sellers.
