Airport blues: government fights myth of spiralling costs
Article Abstract:
The Hong Kong government is attempting to dispel the widespread notion that construction costs at the colony's planned Chek Lap Kok airport are running out of control. Government and Provisional Airport Authority officials argue that the Mar 1991 estimated capital cost of HK$98.6 billion for the airport and ten related projects resulted from a lack of detailed planning. Estimates were later revised in 1992 to indicate a total cost of HK$112.2 billion.

Silk roads of the air: China and Russia hold prospect of shorter flights and Europe
Article Abstract:
The prospect of shorter flights between Asia and the US and Europe will come true if Russia and especially China decide to adopt an open skies policy. Thus, flights from New York to Hong Kong would be reduced by five hours and negate the necessity of stopping over in Japan for refueling. Non-stop flights will become a regular fare. Costs in terms of fuel and crew wages would be trimmed.
