Liberal think-tanks such as the World Resources Institute and the Progressive Policy Institute have recently issue reports endorsing environmental taxes and emissions credit trading. The macroeconomic effect of such a shift in regulation methodology is analyzed.

Pres Clinton has offered a plan to settle the longstanding dispute between environmentalists and the logging industry in the Northwest states. A federal district court judge in Washington state will review the plan and is expected to rule on it in late Jul 1993.
