Tokyo exhibit plots tragic path of World War II
Article Abstract:
A newly-opened exhibit at the Edo-Tokyo Museum is an eye-opening look at how the Japanese people's pre-World War II enthusiasm for empire-building and marital conquest slowly ground down into the unavoidable conclusion of bitter defeat. The exhibit especially focuses on the impact of the great fire raids conducted by what was then the US Army Air Force on the Japanese population, how the bombing made them realize that Japan's early victories were long-gone and that they were no longer beyond the reach of their enemies.

Bold against risk in Japan's portfolios
Article Abstract:
Fund managers throughout Japan are adopting a gutsy attitude as they cling to their foreign investments and speculate more into stocks. The new development could aid in propelling stock prices in Tokyo, Japan, or at least keep them from declining even more. Japan's more fearless stance is likely to prove beneficial to markets worldwide as bolder Japanese investors could become more solid players in worldwide bond and stock markets.

Tokyo stocks are expected to advance as profit rebound outstrips new issues
Article Abstract:
Analysts believe that Japanese companies will perform better than what the companies themselves expect. An aggregate 23% increase is anticipated in parent-company net profit for 300 Tokyo-listed companies. Goldman Sachs expects recurring-profit growth of 14%, while Dresdner Kleinwort Benson is estimating a 20% growth. On the other hand, most Japanese companies look for 6% to 8% growth earnings.
