Tom.com to invest NT$1.3 billion in Taiwan venture

Tom.com Ltd. is planning to make an approximately NT$1.3 billion (45.1 million euros) investment in a publishing venture based in Taiwan. Tom.com will acquire 49% of the venture that was established with PC Home Publication Group and Cite Publishing Ltd.

News Corp. sells stake in Australia rival Fairfax

The News Corporation Ltd. has sold its 7.5% stake in Fairfax Media Ltd. for $312 mil, or $4.16 a share. News Corp. had purchased the stake in October 2006 at $5.20 per share. Last week, News Corp. offered $5 bil for publisher Dow Jones and Company Inc.

Prisa seeks to raise stake in Sogecable unit

Spanish media firm Promotora de Informaciones S.A., known as Prisa, is offering $40.22 for additional shares in television broadcasting company Sogecable S.A., which values the broadcaster at $5.6 bil. Prisa currently owns 47% of Sogecable.
