Semiconductor manufacturers face the difficulty of knowing when to purchase new tools to ensure that their new products are made with the latest technology. These tools are customized and it is difficult to determine when the tools will be completed. This model provides an efficient tool purchasing plan that takes into account demand uncertainty.

Minimizing makespan on a single burn-in oven in semiconductor manufacturing

A scheduling problem in the semiconductor industry involves batch processing with a single burn-in oven. The measurement of the problem involves utilizing the least amount of time to complete the entire production operation. A static example allows all facets of the operation to be completed at the same time, while a dynamic example allows for all facets of the operation to be completed at different times.

A capacity allocation problem with integer side constraints
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the capacity allocation problem of artificial intelligence based scheduling system with tooling constraints, setup considerations and machine capability differences reveals that the problem may be formulated as a maximum flow problem on a bipartite network with integer side constraints. The study finds that network flow model of the problem is applicable to a wide range of production settings and not just the silicon wafer production facility studied.
