Bankers stand behind Swiss secrecy law
Article Abstract:
The government of Switzerland and the banking industry have reached an agreement on the banking secrecy law. Both sides believe that the law should not be changed and that they will not be pressured by the European Union (EU) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to do so. Swiss economic minister Pascal Couchepin said that the federal cabinet saw bankers' obligation to be discreet as vital to the legal system.
