Several factors to consider before heading for arbitration between parties who have arbitration clauses in their contracts are presented. Section 49 of the Arbitrations Act 1996 gives arbitrators the power to award compound interest on sums, due both before and after any award, and costs.

The advantage of arbitration, which is used regularly in sports to settle wide range of disputes, is discussed. The feedback system provides knowledge, experience and speedy, flexible dispute resolving methods and also generally avoids the pit falls of adjudication.
