Growing demand is expected for power utilities because of volatile pricing, environmental and cost concerns in other energy industries. Ladbroke agrees to buy Stakis in $1.89 billion deal

Ladbroke Group PLC announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire Stakis PLC in a 1.16 billion pound sterling ($1.89 billion) deal. The transaction will be a cash-and-stock deal. Ladbroke is the owner of the Hilton brand outside of the United States. Stakis is a hotel and casino group based in Great Britain. The deal will expand Ladbroke's presence in the UK. The company will be adding 54 hotels, 22 casinos, and 67 health clubs to its asset portfolio.
