Toyota plans to slash exports to U.S
Article Abstract:
Toyota Motor Corp. (Toyota) announced plans for a substantial decrease in the number of cars exported to the US market. Toyota Pres. Hiroshi Okuda stated that the company will bring down the number of exports from Japan to the US to a mere 100,000 units by the year 2000. Japanese automakers have been shifting production overseas in an effort to offset the higher value of the yen and cope with rising costs in Japan.
