Article Abstract:

The Department of Commerce reports that over a third of total US exports belong to the capital equipment segment. Conditions vary in new and old markets for capital equipment abroad. Canada remains a lucrative market for US construction machinery exporters due to its many construction projects. Business prospects may improve more with the elimination of tariffs mandated by the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The benefits of NAFTA can also be realized in Mexico, which has recently relaxed import licensing requirements on certain imported goods. Eastern European countries present numerous opportunities, save for certain currency and economic issues.

Demand drives strategic Suez, Panama

Article Abstract:

The Suez Canal and the Panama Canal are both undergoing developments that are making them increasingly important routes. Despite misgivings due to the volatile situation in the Middle East, interest in the Suez route has increased especially with apparel and footwear manufacturers. The interest stems from the proposed expansion of the Canal to accomodate large bulk vessels. At the same time, the Panama Canal is increasingly becoming a major route to Central and South America as US trade with the region attains higher levels.

Article Abstract:

Israel may be used as a trade bridge for sending products to the EC duty free. Due to Israel's free trade agreements with the US and European countries goods that are either partially or completely made in Israel are eligible to be sent to Europe without huge payments. However, impediments such as artificial raises of imports' declared value for tax purposes and disorganized import licensing. However, the continuing Arab boycott of Israeli imports might soon be lifted as a consequence of the current peace talks.
