Transparent hype
Article Abstract:
The Group of 7 has announced plans for world financial reform in a statement which, when examined, appears vague, and which places an emphasis on transparency. There is also a plan for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to be able to lend more freely to protect borrowers from short-term emergencies that could lead to crises. Stringent requirements should be made of borrowers to tackle the problem of mroal hazard. There have also been too many delays in implementing banking standards.

No time for a coffee break
Article Abstract:
There is a need to reform global financial architecture, and also a danger that efforts to carry out such a reform may weaken as the problems of emerging economies recede. Standards are being developed, and the International Monetary Fund has a Contingency Credit Line' to aid emerging economies that are basically healthy in preventing financial collapse. Action that should be taken includes a revision of the Basle rules on capital adequacy for banks.
