Trip frequency scheduling for bus route management in Bangkok
Article Abstract:
Trip frequency scheduling under several constraints was explored to minimize the losses of the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority. The problem, which was characterized via an integer programming model, was addressed by a linear programming-based heuristic and another heuristic based on bus operation practices. The approach, which was tested on two bus routes, enabled the bus authority to plan its trip frequencies and increase its efficiency in allocating buses to routes.

An interactive decision support system for the resource constrained scheduling problem
Article Abstract:
An interactive decision support scheme for handling resource constrained scheduling problems is introduced. The scheme, which is based on M. Norbis and J.M. Smith's (0-1) mathematical programming formulation of the problem, is characterized by a three-level hierarchy of priority rules representing different objective functions. This allows a decision maker to modify the order of priority of jobs and priority rules.

Aggregate planning and scheduling in the food industry: a case study
Article Abstract:
The problem of scheduling Compal S.A.'s production of perishable goods is examined. Since the problem's objective functions are conflicting and the commodity is subject to seasonal demand, it is decomposed into two sub-problems, namely, annual planning and short-term scheduling. For these, linear programming and integer programming models are derived, respectively, and a two-stage heuristic is developed.
