Trust is established in UK senior debt market
Article Abstract:
Bankers Trust was the top lead debt arranger in major UK buyouts in 1997. It undertook seven deals, including the 749 million pounds sterling buyout of William Hill. Second place was taken by Bank of Scotland, which undertook 55 deals at a total value of 850 million pounds sterling. Barclays Acquisition Finance, in third place, was involved in 23 deals worth a total of 813 million pounds sterling. The top two places in the mezzanine league table were taken by Bankers Trust and Societe Generale.

Candover

UK private equity house Candover closed its 1997 investment fund with 850 million pounds sterling, after its initial target of 650 million pounds sterling was exceeded. Candover is seeking to build its European deals to 30% of the fund, encouraged by an increasingly active French and German buyout market. Chevrillon Philippe Candover is a joint venture between Candover and French-based Chevrillion Philippe, which deals with buyouts larger than 30 million pounds sterling.
