Turkish shopping moves beyond the bazaar: mall-building boom changes landscape but risks a backlash
Article Abstract:
The large new shopping malls being built in Turkey are posing a challenge for traditional Turkish bazaars. Although the malls carry higher end goods than the bazaars, small retailers are upset. The Turkish Parliament is considering placing limits on the size of new stores and on new mall construction.
