Turning convention on its head
Article Abstract:
RD International (RDI), set up in 1990 to provide materials-based services to a small number of original electronic manufacturing (OEM) companies, benefited greatly from development capital of 500,000 pounds sterling received in Dec 1993 from Lloyds Development Capital (LDC). It had been experiencing financial difficulties, although it was expanding, so the development capital proved a vital turning point. It allowed the company to strengthen its balance sheet, to improve liquidity and to boost its credit rating.
