UK: BEALE DOBIE INTRODUCES TEP GEARING PLAN
Article Abstract:
Beale Dobie introduced a TEP Gearing Plan for independent financial advisers in the UK in May 2001. The plan could be used for inheritance tax planning, long-term care, retirement, further education and school fees. Under the plan the available capital of the customer can be combined with a loan of as much as nine tenths of the surrender value of their policy to build up an investment portfolio. According to a spokesman, investors can take advantage of the difference between growth rates of TEPs, which are likely to be higher, and interest rates for loans. The full price of policies is taken into consideration when calculating commission.

UK: New employment opportunities in financial sector
Article Abstract:
Legal & General is among large UK financial services firms boosting their advisory operations, even though job losses have been seen in the rest of the sector. This company is creating around 100 jobs in the Midlands following a deal involving the sales of its products by Woolwich. Bradford & Bingley Building Society is to step up its IFA activities, and is seeking to recruit a further 250 advisers. However, it is cutting 500 employees from its operations and administration support units.
