UK: CONSUMERS WANT MORE CLARITY WITH WHITE LABELLING
Article Abstract:
Research by Clerical Medical has found that 94% of consumer respondents want full and clear disclosure of product providers before committing to purchasing from the retailer, while 93% said that they expected the retailer to be fully responsible for the suppliers' product, if the practice of white-labelling occurs once stakeholder is launched. Consumers expect clarity and want to know who they are dealing with, according to pensions strategy manager at Clerical Medical, Nigel Stammers, who says that the FSA needs to regulate for presale information disclosure in order to maintain consumer confidence and overcome concern.

Clerical Medical, which belongs to the Halifax Group, is changing its charging structure for pensions, following the model for stakeholder pensions. The company is offering four new group pensions in addition to the individual FutureProof range of pensions introduced in February 2001. According to the company's sales development manager, David Flint, Clerical Medical is offering some very competitive, flexible products. The new rates will be applied to existing customers if it is to their advantage. A number of other providers have already changed their charges in view of the introduction of stakeholder pensions.

UK: CHANGES IN PENSION PROVISION
Article Abstract:
A survey by Swiss Re indicates that whilst 57% of people believe that the government is the body with the most responsibility for pension provision in 2000, 24% consider that the situation will be different in 2011.
