UK: STAKEHOLDER LEGISLATION CONFUSES EMPLOYERS
Article Abstract:
A recent survey by Bacs, the debit processing company, of 350 businesses with five or more employees highlighted the confusion felt over the forthcoming stakeholders legislation. A staggeringly high percentage, 92%, were unaware that the legislation will be introduced in April 2001. With 25% of the businesses unaware that to not offer stakeholder would be breaking the law and a similar percentage deciding not to offer it anyway. The most popular place where businesses would go to seek advise was IFAs (35%) followed by banks (24%) and only 6% going direct to product providers.

UK: FEAR OF COMPUTER CHAOS AT STAKEHOLDER LAUNCH
Article Abstract:
Independent financial advisers and technology experts are afraid that the introduction of the stakeholder pension in April 2001 could lead to computer chaos because of the amount of business anticipated. Various sources within the industry have spoken of the problems which they expect, including administration problems and providers taking on more business than they can handle.

UK: M&S TO FOCUS ON WOMEN FOR STAKEHOLDER PENSION
Article Abstract:
Marks & Spencer Financial Services (M&SFS) hopes to attract business from women for its stakeholder pension. Women appear to know less about the new pension product, according to the M&SFS Stakeholder Barometer, with only 22% of women on a salary of GBu 10,000-GBu 19,000 and 44% of those on a salary of over GBu 35,000 knowing about the new scheme.
