UK: Homebuyers seek mortgage information
Article Abstract:
Some 75% of housebuyers seeking a mortgage want information on a variety of lenders before making a choice, according to research from g2m The Mortgage House. However, 48% of people would go to a building society or bank for advice, while 44% will talk to an independent mortgage adviser. Just 10% of people would buy a mortgage over the telephone and only 4% would consider buying via the internet.

UK: VAT MAY AFFECT MORTGAGE PACKAGERS
Article Abstract:
UK mortgage packagers could be hit by VAT following a March 1999 ruling which removed the exemption of VAT on procuration fees as there was not direct client contact. A Customs & Excise official has confirmed that cases will be investigated as they come to their attention.
